5 Ways to Improve Curb Appeal – Home Improvement
in Outdoor Tips/by bearcreekcoGood Afternoon Friends and Family, Backyard Brian here.
It’s Saturday afternoon, and maybe you were out doing some chores this morning. The sun was shining, so I was thinking about spring-time and spring cleaning. A couple of weeks ago, I talked about the new Waynesboro comprehensive plan and how the researchers that help put that together looked at the condition of homes in Waynesboro. We really need to step it up and work together as a community to improve how our homes are taken care of and portrayed. I was thinking about how improvements can cost a lot of money, but also wondering about what can we all do to improve the curb appeal of our homes?Curb appeal doesn’t cost a whole lot of money.
It’s springtime here, and we’re going to be outside getting some projects done. The first order of business I came up with is to clean up and de-clutter. Throughout the winter many of us leave things in our yards that we had used during the winter season; things such as shovels, broken pots, or disrepaired furniture. We can begin addressing the curb appeal of our homes by de-cluttering the outside of our houses; both front and back yards. I know sometimes it’s hard to throw out those things, but take a few minutes and get rid of something. Pick two or three things and get rid of it.
Then the next thing to do is clean up leaves and debris from winter. If you look here, you’ll see that our sidewalk and flower beds over here need a little bit of cleanup.
Go ahead and get the leaves, sticks, and all that stuf cleaned up. So that’s number two.
Number one is to declutter. Number two is to clean up the leaves, flower beds, and sidewalks.
Then number three is to plant something. Choose some plants an flowers that you’d like to have in your flower gardens and go buy them! Go down and get some Pansies or something nice and cheap. Even some simple flowers can add some color to your home and really spruce up it’s image. So that’s number three.
Now number four is to take a leap. Use this opportunity to change something, like painting your front door a new color. This will give your home a fresh look. It’ll take a quarter paint down at Lowe’s that’ll probably only cost you about 15 bucks.
The flowers that we just talked about will maybe cost you $15-20. We’re up to about $35-40, and we really haven’t spent a whole lot.
Number five is to add lights somewhere. Go get something like string lights. They’re pretty cheap and easy to string from your porch. Or you could get something like these pathway lights that we’ve got here. Their solar, cheap, and easy to install and add a little bit of extra lighting. Lights like these will help the curb appeal of your house tremendously as the evening comes and nighttime settles in. So many of our houses just look dark and uninviting at night.
With the lights, you’re total expenses should only be less thn $50, with a bit extra to go and get yourself a coffee to drin while doing this work.
I hope this helps give you some ideas of how to improve the curb appeal of your house for less than a hundred bucks in a short time-span.
Take a trip down to Lowe’s or Ace Hardware here in Waynesboro, and you can probably do all of this in a Saturday.
Anyway, I hope everyone has a great Saturday, and I will talk to you soon.
If you know somebody that might find these tips helpful, take a minute to share this with them as well. All right, later, y’all have a good one. Bye.
