- Job Title: Lead Assist
- Department: Field Crew
- Reports to: Crew Foreman
Job Summary: The Lead Assist position is key to keeping the installation process moving. This is a position that requires a basic understanding of hand tools, power tools, hanger & fastener requirements, and safety. A strong work ethic, dependability, clear communication, a willingness to learn, and general knowledge of construction methods are also required. This is a fast-paced position that can lead to further opportunities to grow within the team.
Key Requirements:
- Basic tool skills

Key Responsibilities:
Work Efficiency/Quality of Work
- Use tools in a safe manner
- Work efficiently and maintain good productivity
- Identify and know the proper usage of fasteners
- Identify and know the proper usage of materials (Decking, Lumber, Trim, Siding, Roofing, etc)
- Identify the different types and sizes of lumber (PT, YP, SPF, Plywood, OSB, 2X4, 2X6, etc)
- Read a tape measure to the 1/16th of an inch
- Make efficient and accurate cuts with a Miter Saw
- Make efficient and accurate cuts with a Circular Saw
- Make efficient and accurate cuts with a Jig Saw
- Make efficient and accurate cuts with a Sawzall
- Make efficient and accurate cuts with a Multi-Tool
- Make efficient and accurate cuts with a Grinder
- Efficiently use a Framing Gun
- Efficiently use a Trim Gun
- Efficiently use a Roofing Gun
- Efficiently use a Impact Driver
- Efficiently use a Drill
- Efficiently use Hand Tools
- Safely set-up Ladders, scaffolding and walk-boards
- Understand basic Deck building methods
- Understand basic Framing methods (Including Rafters & Stairs)
- Understand basic Siding methods
- Understand basic Roofing methods
- Understand basic Trim & Finish methods
- Understand basic Layout/Footing methods
- Work to maintain a clean/safe jobsite
- Anticipate what needs to be done
Communication
- Communicate clearly and ask questions
- Regularly check company communications
- Respond in a timely manner to all communications
- Accurately Clock-In and Out each day in BuilderTREND
- Engage in Jobsite communication to effectively deliver projects
Professionalism
- Maintain good hygiene, neat appearance and wear company uniform
- Demonstrate reliable attendance and punctuality

- Attend and engage in company meetings
- Interact with clients and team members in a positive manner

This is a field position to be carried out from the Bear Creek office/shop in Waynesboro, VA and on various job sites throughout Central Virginia.
