Building Community – Waynesboro

Good Morning!

Backyard Brian here.

This morning I want to take you to my own home here in Downtown Waynesboro. I wanted to talk a little bit about why we do what we do. For me and my team at Bear Creek, everything we do, our WHY is about building community and building relationships. The way we get to do that is by creating a process to help homeowners create backyard spaces that bring people together. However, you may do something totally different, and that’s exciting. We all get to do different things, but one of those big things about building community is that we get a chance to connect with many different people. Building community here is important to me because I love this place. This is where I grew up. This is my hometown, and I look forward to the days where we don’t have empty storefronts downtown and the streets are full of kids who are coming to the Natural History Museum.

My question is: Why do you do what you do?

Think about that for a little bit, I know that there are many of you out there who do do some significant things for our community. I think about Karen, with the children’s museum or Kathy Johnson, who supports all the vendors and businesses here in the downtown. I think about our city council and guys like Terry Short who are helping with our education system; helping promote Waynesboro to be a great place. So, what do you do and why do you do it?

That’s what I’d love to have a conversation about it. If you’re interested in contributing to the betterment of community and we’ve never met, shoot me a message. I’d love to buy you coffee and have that conversation Maybe we can help each other make this a better place.

The final group that I want to highlight that I’ve met is a group of people that work through Woodrow Wilson Rehab Center. I got a chance to have a tour and lunch with them this week. They get up every day to help people who have experienced challenges in life, find meaningful work and a great place to work. I’m excited that we’ll be partnering with them to accomplish some of that. Maybe there’s others out there like that too. If that’s you, I’d love to talk. Reach out. Send me a message, and we’ll get together sometime.

I hope everyone has an amazing weekend! Get together with your friends and/or family. Build some meaningful relationships, and make your community circle great.

Take care. We’ll talk to you later. Bye.
